Arriving in Quebec City and Accreditation

2008 IEC organizers will pick up accredited individuals and groups arriving by air at the Quebec City Airport, or by commercial bus line or train at the various terminals in Quebec City and area. They will be taken to the Eucharistic City(ExpoCité). When they have finished the accreditation process, they will be taken to hotels by shuttle. It is important to have the name and address of your hotel handy so that you can be directed to the right shuttle.

Congress pilgrims who have been matched with a host family can meet the family in the reserved area near the accreditation counter.

Charter buses should arrive at the Eucharistic City along Rue Soumande (see map). A parking area has been set aside near the accreditation center.

Pilgrims arriving by private automobile should arrive at the Eucharistic City along Rue Soumande (see map). Short-term parking is available near the accreditation center. Attendants will be there to direct you.

To Take Part in the 2008 IEC, June 15 to 21

The 2008 IEC organizers encourage participants to use public transit to get to all event functions. Your accreditation card provides free transit via the Quebec City transit system (Réseau de transport de la Capitale, or RTC), the City of Lévis system (Société de transport de Lévis), and the Quebec City–Lévis ferry.

Four RTC routes pass within a few hundred meters of the Eucharistic City (ExpoCité): routes 4, 12, 37 and 801. Ask at the place where you are staying which route to take, and feel free to ask the driver to tell you where to get off for the Eucharistic City(ExpoCité). When you leave the City,you will be given directions to help make your return easier. Please note that route and schedule information is available on the websites of the transit corporations (www.rtcquebec.ca, www.stlevis.ca and www.traversiers.gouv.qc.ca), or by calling 418-627-2511 for the RTC, 418-837-2401 for Société de transport de Lévis, or 1-877-787-7483 for the Quebec City–Lévis ferry. You can also get information at the Congress Pilgrim Information Center in Place de la vie du monde,Room B, or on the bulletin boards of hotels. A route map and schedule is also included in your Congress Pilgrim bag.

For those pilgrims staying in hotels along boulevards la Capitale, Hamel, Laurier, or Sainte-Anne as well as those staying on the Université Laval or Notre-Dame de Foy campuses, shuttles to the Eucharistic City are provided.

For your return, see the posters in the unloading area near Colisée Pepsi. These will tell you which buses go to the place where you are staying.

Charter buses must enter the Eucharistic City (ExpoCité) through the Boulevard Wilfrid-Hamel entrance at the corner of Rue Jalobert. Passengers should be let off in the unloading area in front of Colisée Pepsi. Directions will be given to drivers on where to park vehicles. Passengers should be picked up at the unloading area at the time agreed on.

For those in private automobiles, parking places are available in the Eucharistic Citynear Place de la vie du monde (the Exhibition Centre) and at Place Fleur de Lys Shopping Center, a few hundred meters away. Shuttles will be traveling in a continuous loop to pick up those who need a ride.

Eucharistic Procession on Thursday, June 19

Return transportation to the Eucharistic City (ExpoCité)for Congress pilgrims will be provided by shuttles departing from Notre-Dame de Saint-Roch Church, the Quebec City Bus and Train Terminal (Gare du Palais), and the Agora in the Old Port.

Charter bus drivers will receive specific instructions for parking their vehicles when they unload passengers at the Eucharistic City (ExpoCité). (Entry via the Boulevard Wilfrid-Hamel entrance at the corner of Rue Jalobert) (See Appendix 1)

Regular participants in the Eucharistic Procession can return to their point of departure by public transit.

Statio Orbis

The shuttles you normally take to go to the Eucharistic City (ExpoCité) will take you directly to the Statio Orbissite on the Plains of Abraham, across from Musée national des beaux-arts. They will also return you to your accommodations afterwards, departing from their parking area on Rue Ontario. Signs will show you the way to your shuttle.

Congress pilgrims can park in or near the Eucharistic City (ExpoCité). Shuttle buses will take them to the site on the Plains and return to the parking area after the celebrations.

Charter buses may go directly to the site on the Plains. A parking area is reserved for them on Grande-Allée East across from the Statio Orbis site.
The general public is invited to take public transit, which will be supplemented for the event. Those taking private automobiles are invited to park at Université Laval or Laurier Québec shopping center in parking areas reserved for the event. From there, RTC Route 11 goes directly to the Statio Orbissite, while the 111 bus returns. Route 801 also passes near the site and provides more frequent service.
